  • Angele Sumpter

    Angele Sumpter

    Dr. Angele Sumpter graduated from the University of Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. She is committed to practicing high quality medicine, and she strives to provide exceptional service to all her patients, treating them all as if they were her own.

    Dr. Sumpter is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the California Veterinary Medical Association, and the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association.

    Dr. Sumpter is married and has a daughter and a son, as well as a Cavelier King Charles Spaniel named Marley, a greyhound named Charlie, a Siamese cat named Athena, a chameleon named Keckleon, a frog named Paco, and two turtles named Oswald and Gary. 

    In her free time she enjoys running, painting, and being silly with her kids.
  • Marcos Coins

    Dr. Coins joined our practice in 2017 and is a graduate of  Ross University. He is a member of the AVMA, CVMA, and SCVMA. His interests include surgery and internal medicine. He resides in San Clemente with his rescue dog Ripley.
  • Dr. Chris Bessette

    Dr. Bessette comes from a family of veterinarians and grew up working in his dad's practice in Florida. He graduated from Ross Univeristy and completed his final year of vet school at Auburn Univeristy. His interests include emergency medicine and surgery. He is a member of the AVMA, CVMA, and SCVMA.

    Scott lives locally in Mission Viejo with his cat Rudy. His passion for helping animals and learning new things in a hospital environment is what brings him to Ladera Ranch Animal Hospital. He enjoys boxing, playing the guitar, going to the gym, and is a big baseball and football fan.

    Jessica has been a part of the Ladera Ranch Animal Hospital team since the beginning, and her experience helps the front office run smoothly. Her love for animals shines through in every contact. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, going to the beach, and music.

    Katie grew up with a strong love for animals and veterinary care. After graduating with her Bachelor's degree from Fresno State University with an Animal Science major, she knew she wanted to work in a hospital again and help animals in need. Her hobbies include horseback riding and working with horses, and spending time with her family, friends, and her pets.

    Samantha is one of our many friendly faces you will find in our lobby. She loves animals and helping people, and has been in the animal industry for over 10 years. She lives locally with her four dogs and one cat!

    Hailey is currently attending school to become a registered veterinary technician. She has a passion for rescuing animals and helping them to find their perfect homes. She lives locally in Ladera with her two dogs and two cats.

    Austin is one of our veterinary technicians and has a high interest in the care of shelter pets. He drives all the way from Anaheim to work with us, and lives with three dogs

    Jacquelyn has worked in the veterinary field for over 10 years as a veterinary technician. She has a wide range of experience ranging from emergency medicine to specialty hospitals and even feline exclusive practices. Our very own "cat whisperer", even the most scared and aggressive cats turn to jelly in her care!

    Veterinary Assistant
    Eian started as a kennel attendent with us, and has moved up to veterinary assistant position. He is currently taking undergraduate courses and has a strong interest in wildlife photography.

    Kennel Attendent
    Jacklyn is one of our kennel attendents and helps to keep our hospital and boarding area extremely tidy and spotless. Her care and gentle nature towards the animals is a huge asset, and all the pets in her care love her!

  • Tide


    Tide is our friendly and sweet hospital cat. She was a stray, found wandering around in San Clemente. After unsuccessfully trying to locate her owner around the neighborhoods and through the local shelters, we decided to keep her. She has become a big part of the Ladera Ranch Animal Hospital family, and has even saved a few cats by being a blood donor! You can most days find her lounging on one of our lobby chairs, or walking around meowing and begging for her next treat!
